Somato Emotional Release NYC
Somato Emotional release means, a letting go, releasing, getting over and neutralizing negative experiences of your particular life. Experiences that are stuck in your body (soma) which means tissue of the body. Bad, negative, unpleasant experiences and traumas become stuck energetically in the body’s own tissues creating pain and disturbing the mind-body connection. Emotion you have felt from these negative live experiences literally become trapped in the body. These unresolved emotions are not serving your highest purpose but on the contrary, disrupt your body’s ability to self-regulate.
The mind-body’s inability of letting go of some unpleasant experiences, events, and overwhelming past emotions can become stuck in the body in a negative form. Which can all cause you to have unproductive thoughts, lack of lymphatic fluid movement throughout the body and energy stagnation. This impacts your physical and mental health, can cause pain or muscle spasm, lead to experiencing lots of stress, unexplained anxiety and even depression. A somato emotional release can alleviate all this.
What Causes This in the Body?
For example, a break-up with a significant other, scary car-accident, argument with a colleague or family member, bullying and other hundreds of likely negative interactions we live through in our daily lives. These interactions create in the soma an unhealthy energetic balance creating pain, discomfort, anxiety, depression or other health symptoms / conditions.
How is a Somato Emotional Release Achieved?
Somato Emotional Release (SER) is the process that takes place during a Craniosacral Therapy (CST) session, whereby the hands of the practitioner are placed on specific areas of the body to facilitate the patient’s body tissues (soma) to release these physiologically compromising life experiences, as mentioned above, that are stuck in your soma from your past. Hence the name, Somato Emotional Release.
There are a few ways to achieve a release of emotions from the body. Dr. Kaminsky combines Craniosacral Therapy while guiding the patient to actively participating in a guided breathing technique while lying on the table. This facilitates the patient’s body to release, to achieve a Somato Emotional Release.
Stuck, unprocessed, unresolved traumas and experiences are released from the physical body during the session.
Often during the hands-on session patients feel soothing, smooth, pleasant sensations throughout the body as the releasing occurs. Less frequently there may be unpleasant temporary sensations, emotional processes such as crying, laughing and an experiencing of certain emotions.
What Happens After SER Session?
CST is meant to facilitate releases in the body during the session and then there is processing time which is usually one to two days after the session but can last up to a week. This is where the Central Nervous System recognizes that the body released some (one or two, or three, or more) emotional energy, and your system will make a correction in the physical body and the mind-body connection. A noticeable improvement in your mental and / or physical condition will take place.
The Mind Body Connection
The mind and body are linked. Unprocessed, unresolved experiences, negatively charged memories effect the health and relationship between the physical body, mind and spirit. One has major dependency on the state of health of the other, and vice versa. Mind and body are interdependent on each other for health.
Decreased neck and back pain, improved quality of sleep, diminished levels of stress, happy life, etc., are all results of the body finally letting go, having a somato emotional release. How the body works is something very important to understand.
How Many Sessions Does One Need?
That all depends on how much is stuck in the soma and what your personal goals are. It may take one session to produce the results you are looking for, and for some people it will take multiple sessions to fully achieve a satisfactory level of Somato Emotional Release.
SER is Scientifically Documented
Doctors Zvi Karni and John Upledger, through their joint research in the1970’s, discovered that the body does not always dissipate the emotional energy from emotions experienced, but rather retains the energetic charge within the tissue and muscles (soma). As the body physically adapts to this unwelcome energy, it emotionally and energetically isolates this negative energy into what the founders termed, “Energy Cysts”, essentially, pockets of unprocessed, unresolved negative energy in the body that starts to accumulate and cause muscle tightness, pain symptoms and many conditions we experience today in this day and age.
The body will begin to adapt to these energy cysts, and with this energy compromise, it will begin to have deteriorating consequences on the physical body, mental clarity and overall health.
Craniosacral Therapy Facilitates the SER
During a CranioSacral Therapy session a trained practitioner will help facilitate your body to release these trapped / stuck energies and energy cysts. A disintegration of negative energies stuck in the human body tied with the emotion gets released and a correlating past experience from some point in life gets processed by the mind-body. You are freed.
During a session the patient should expect to enter a relaxed state brought on through the hands of an experienced craniosacral therapy practitioner, a mind – body connection occurs and the Somato Emotional Release occurs. More sessions may be necessary depending on individual needs.
The Somato Emotional Release
Some patients may experience subtle sensations in their bodies on the treatment table during the session. It is natural and allows the negative energies to be released from the body, the muscular tension changes away from the stress the body was carrying and the muscles will become soft and relaxed again. Other functions improve and dis-ease in the heart, soul, mind-body start to become minimized.
The experiences of a SER session vary greatly from one person to the next. Some people may experience spontaneous memories, certain emotions, and possible night time vivid dreams, all as positive processing for the body. Again, this is the body’s way of releasing. It is your body’s way of letting go, and often results in a sense of calm, muscle relaxation, relief of pain and other distinct beneficial healthy results.
Anyone suffering from chronic symptoms should consider a visit to an SER trained CranioSacral Therapy practitioner.
CranioSacral Therapy works by effecting every aspect of human nature, physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional in order to bring about healing and balance to the body.
Dr. Kaminsky is an advanced practitioner of Craniosacral Therapy as well as other healing modalities. He also incorporates energy healing (Pranic Healing) in his sessions, and other methods to bring forth SER.
He has helped hundreds of people achieve a SER process with Craniosacral Therapy.

About Dr. Kaminsky & Craniosacral Therapy
Having a Chiropractic background since the year 2000, Dr. Kaminsky offers many methods of treatment with an emphasis on Craniosacral Therapy in NYC.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a method focusing on the link between the cranium (head) and sacrum (the second to last bone at the base of your spine), scientifically proven to work in unison to pump fluid throughout the body, an unknown disruption of which can cause many health issues. The craniosacral mechanism pumps vital fluid called cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) through the body and in a sense energetically lubricates the joints, tissues, organs; basically all cells of the body. It is the driving force of all your body’s systems of function; including maintaining the tone of your muscles.
The Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord) are surrounded with CSF generating energetic rhythmic impulses of fluid delicately pumping throughout your body’s parts “breathing” the movement of life. This measurable rhythm of moving fluid, like the heart rhythm, pulse rhythm, breathing rhythm is the foundational “blueprint” and primary principle of our real-time state of our health.
Compromises of our rhythmic movements of fluid flow correlates to the impulse restrictions in the system which the body is unable to overcome or self-correct. This is the reason why we have “dis-ease”, symptoms, conditions, basically all ailments. This is where the skill of an experienced craniosacral therapist becomes valuable. By placing his or her hands on your body the practitioner can feel, detect, evaluate, and facilitate correction of these restrictive arrhythmic impulses.
The craniosacral therapist helps your rhythm restore and renew in compromised areas allowing for healing to take place of sensory, motor, musculoskeletal, neurological disorders, symptoms, conditions and pain.
