Dr. Kaminsky has studied Network Chiropractic and enjoys the technique. Although he prefers the more effective and more direct technique of Craniosacral Therapy.
Network Spinal Analysis (NSA), otherwise known as Network Chiropractic, is a lesser-known approach to chiropractic care. Despite its minimal exposure it is an effective chiropractic method that centers on the central nervous system. This method of chiropractic began in the 1980s by founding chiropractor, Donald Epstein.
The purpose of Network Chiropractic in NYC is to release the tension that has built up around the patient’s spine. The muscles act as a rubber band when they are tense. This tense tissue then binds to the vertebrae causing the bones to become misaligned. This misalignment is best known by the term, subluxation. Subluxations can lead to a host of health complications and chronic pain. The nervous system is responsible for the tension and ultimately the existence of the subluxation.
This field of chiropractic care focuses on the tension, which is the root of the problem. Because Network Chiropractic works to correct the tension, not just the misalignment, the practitioner is able to address and adequately treat the patient’s actual issue, not just mask the pain that is present by correcting the subluxation. The goal is to address and restore proper nerve function to prevent future tension and subluxations.
The process of Network Chiropractic is consolidated into two steps. It is a gentle and systematic approach designed to allow the body to find balance through the lightest amount of force possible. Because it is a light approach there should be no cracking or popping sounds as are associated with traditional chiropractic adjustments. Not only that, but twisting and cracking movements are not utilized at all. This gives peace of mind to the patient who does not feel comfortable with traditional chiropractic cracking that use a bit more force.
The practitioner is able to cause a shift in the nervous system from being in a defensive state physiologically to conforming into a healing state. This is done through spinal channels in the body, called gateways; where the practitioner is able to work with the nervous system. When pressure is applied to these areas it cues the brain to focus its attention to those areas where the tension is being held. This then creates a pathway to reorient this defensive pattern.
The first step in Network Chiropractic is release the tightness of soft tissues, which includes the muscles and meninges that have become tight and are causing the subluxation. Meninges are the sheath like structure that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. By releasing the tension here, the second step becomes more manageable. The second step is to guide the misaligned / subluxated vertebrae back into place to achieve the proper alignment.
Because Network Chiropractic focuses on the nervous system, not just correcting pain, it is often sought out by patients who want healing of mind, body, and spirit. During an appointment a patient will experience what is known as “network waves” which are healing waves that flow through the central nervous system via the spine to the entire body.
Throughout a visit the patient will be required to lie on a table where the practitioner will use light touch and pressure to locate spinal tension. This touch will allow the brain to engage and connect with the area of tension. Through this engagement the brain is able to overcome the tension. As the patient undergoes this therapeutic process through multiple sessions this healing mechanism will eventually become automatic. The brain will be able to overcome the tension when the brain or body experiences stress.
While it may not seem desirable at first, more than one appointment may be necessary for ultimate healing and benefits. Putting in the time and commitment can lead to lasting healing. There are three levels of Network Chiropractic care; basic, intermediate, and advanced. Basic is for new patients or those who have high levels of trauma or stress of the spine. Intermediate and advanced appointments are for healthier patients who need greater care.
Network Chiropractic is only practiced by a licensed chiropractor who has received additional training. Traditional and NSA chiropractic share a similar goal of healing that require spinal or musculoskeletal adjustments. Network Chiropractic differs from traditional chiropractic in that it is a gentler approach. NSA also focuses on emotional healing along with physical improvements in pain.
About Dr. Kaminsky & Craniosacral Therapy
Dr. Kaminsky earned his Chiropractic degree in the year 2000 and is licensed to practice in NY. He has since completed close to three thousand hours of professional continuing education seminars.
For many years now, since 2015 he is using primarily the hands-on techniques of Craniosacral Therapy (CST), a gentle, non-invasive, laying of the hands that brings about reversal, restoration and healing in the human body.
The existence of a Craniosacral Mechanism is scientifically proven to control and be the driver of a moving fluid in the body called cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF), which is produced by the Choroid Plexus in the brain, the life force of brain fluid moving throughout the spine and tissue channels within the human body.
This system is part of the Central Nervous System (CNS) and (ANS) Autonomic Nervous System and its function is to pump this fluid via the internal, interconnected human fascial(tissue) network in the body via the mechanism of the Craniosacral system, which is the physiological function of the brain and spinal cord.
The craniosacral system is the hydraulic mechanism of the brain and body via CSF flow. This physical and physiological component functions by pumping this fluid and energy through its channels of interwoven human tissue within the head and spine outward, internally inside the body.
The craniosacral mechanism is the primary function of a human being that also maintains body and brain health.
The proper physiology of function of your cranial sacral mechanism, via CSF flow, maintains the normal tone of your muscles, provides nutrients to your organs, lubricates joints, keeps active all your cells and organs and keeps you alive. It also carries healing properties against physical stress, bodily traumas, injuries and post surgeries. CSF flows life inside of you by this mechanism.
Cerebro-Spinal fluid is found in every cell, tissue and organ in the body. It is the driving life force of human existence. It sustains life inside your body and allows your nervous system to stay responsive to external challenges of daily living and your mind-body healthy maintenance of your life.
The better your craniosacral mechanism functions, the better the flow of this life sustaining fluid, the better your mind and body can handle physical and emotional stress. An uncompromised, uninhibited flow of this fluid throughout your body allows you to live healthy, without symptoms or medically diagnosed conditions.
The functions inside of your brain is to automatically generate energetic rhythmic impulses that function to pump CSF throughout your body via the craniosacral system / mechanism, regulating your peripheral nerves, nervous system and organ systems, which in turn, sustain your function (physiology) and life. It is an important force that maintains everything functioning in your body. This is what we call the Craniosacral System, or Craniosacral Mechanism. It is the hydraulic, rejuvenating component of your body.
This measurable life force of moving fluid is palpable to a trained craniosacral therapist, like the heart rhythm, pulse rhythm, breathing rate, that can all be heard or felt, so too can the Cranial Sacral Rhythm (CSR) be palpated and measured by a trained craniosacral therapist. It is the foundational diagnostic tool in real-time that can be used to evaluate your current state of health and well-being, or lack thereof.
Compromises of your CSR’s rhythmic pulse, correlates to CSF flow restrictions in the system which the body is unable to self-correct or overcome on its own. This is the reason why over time we develop various symptoms, pain, dis-ease, different health conditions, mind-body disconnect and basically all human physical and psychological ailments.
When the fluid isn’t flowing optimally, your bodily rejuvenation and recovery is affected, and this is where the skill of an experienced craniosacral therapist becomes valuable. By placing his or her hands on your body, including your head and sacrum, the practitioner can detect, feel, evaluate, and rate the SQAR (symmetry, quality, amplitude, rate) of the fluid rhythm; then brings forth a response of the system and its compromises.
With experienced hand placement on different parts the body during a session, the therapist facilitates a positive internal change and brings forth internal correction.
A craniosacral therapist stimulates and helps your rhythm reset, restore and renew, allowing for healing to take place of musculoskeletal tightness and spasms, neurological deficits, autoimmune issues, organ function, many common conditions, pain and the mind-body connection.
Through a practitioners properly focused and attuned touch, your body is facilitated to release channels of fluid stagnation and CSF fluid flow restriction, which ultimately breakthrough, overcome and improve your rhythm and your potential for healing and health improvement.
The existence of the Craniosacral mechanism was first discovered by Osteopath Dr. William Sutherland in the early 1900’s, who called it Cranial Osteopathy. And many years later, through experimentation and research the importance of this system was validated and proven to exist by another Osteopath named Dr. John Upledger.
Dr. John, carried out research in the late 70’s and early 80’s at the Michigan State University, School of Medicine to prove the existence of this mechanism.
After successfully documenting and proving the existence of the cranial mechanism, Dr. John, as he was fondly called, established a teaching institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in order to bring to the world this newly discovered and developed hands-on healing therapy, he called it Craniosacral Therapy.
His mission was to teach this powerful approach to all licensed healthcare practitioners outside the Osteopathic profession. Hence the Upledger Institute was born and is still very active today throughout the world.
