Reiki vs. Pranic Healing?

Reiki or Pranic Healing

Reiki, Pranic Healing, Laying-of-the-Hands are examples of Energy Healing Medicine. It comes from a range of alternative healing methods that work with universal life force energy (Chi, Ki, Prana, Kundalini, et.) as the primary healing methods.

Pranic healing compared with other types of energy healing in NYC.

Pranic healing is a more comprehensive and more treatment-specific form of energy healing than that two other systems, Reiki and Therapeutic Touch. Additionally, Pranic Healing includes practices rarely found in other energy body work systems, such as the detail use of color prana, crystal therapeutics and the practice of energy hygiene.

A significant component of Pranic Healing is the use of authentic hand carved quartz Crystals, used to work in the auric field, with Chakras  and meridian points. You can learn about Pranic Crystal Healing.

Dr. Alex Kaminsky is an experienced practitioner of Pranic Healing, an energy body work system developed by a spiritual teacher Grand Master Choa Kok Sui.

Reiki, Pranic Healing, Therapeutic Touch

Like Reiki and Therapeutic Touch, Pranic Healing teachers practitioners to feel for disturbances in the aura. The Pranic Healing version of this tactile technique, called scanning, is more explicit and precise. For instance, Pranic Healing teachers several simple exercises that helps open and sensitize the chakras, or power centers, in the palms of ther hands. This enables Pranic Healers to detect both congestion -energetic blockage, and depletion energetic deficiency, as they move their hands over the body of a patient. Pranic Healing also includes two other hands-on techniques: sweeping, which is manually cleaning away congestion or dirty energy, and energizing, which is supplementing areas of prana insufficiency. Reiki has no comparable sweeping technique, while Therapeutic Touche’s unruffling is similar to but not as effective as sweeping. Unruffling resembles what is called in Pranic Healing distributive sweeping, or using the hand to move energy gently from one area to another.  But Pranic Healing’s sweeping provides more focused, complete removal of energetic congestion, primarily because pranic healers are taught several types of hand motions and sweeping.

Prana Energy in Healing

Energizing is much more detailed in Pranic Healing than in either Reiki or Therapeutic touch, and it is simple to learn. Both Reiki and Therapeutic Touch practitioners channel energy into the body of the patient, and there are some rudimentary targeting of the energy to areas where the patient has discomfort, or where the practitioner feels an energetic disturbance. In Pranic Healing, though, for each specific health problems there is a specific sequence for cleaning and energizing particular parts of the body in particular chakras so that the prana is utilized to maximum healing effect.

Pranic Healing is easier to learn and use. As in acupuncture, Pranic Healing works with the meridians, but unlike acupuncture Pranic Healing concentrates on only the largest meridians, along which the major chakras lie. Hundreds of other, smaller meridians crisscross the body, but by performing focused energy work on the large meridians, which feed the others, pranic healers can achieve more effective results in a much shorter period of time with their energized hands. And of course, pranic healers, unlike acupuncturist, needn’t use needles at meridians to figure out which organs and parts of the body they energize.

Development of Pranic Healing

Pranic healing was created by a Chinese-Filipino spiritual teacher and energy master named grand master Choa Kok Sui, who spent years researching the root teachings of esoteric systems such as yoga, chi kung, Kabbalah (and ancient Jewish mystical-spiritual tradition), and many others in order to create a simple, practical, effective, ‘optimum” energy healing system that anyone could learn and use.

In his teens Grandmaster Choa was already an accomplished student of Yoga and various meditation and spiritual systems. In his twenties, he continued intensive study of higher-level esoteric practices, with a particular focus on the use of vital life force for healing. He concluded that healing, at its most basic, consists of cleansing and energizing – that is, cleaning away dirty or blocked life force energy from the aura and replenishing the aura with fresh energy. Next, Grandmaster Choa, who by this time had also established himself as a businessman and engineer, applied a rigorous scientific approach to his inquiries. He set up a number of healing clinics in the Philippines to test the effectiveness of laying on of hands, chi kung, and other energy healing systems. Each patient who came in received a particular type of energetic treatment, and the results – or lack of results – of that particular treatment for that specific element were recorded. Grandmaster Choa also had highly skilled healers with heightened sensitivity – people with ability to see vital force in the body observe the patients before and after treatment, so that he could detail the exact energetic effect of each system. These experiments were overseen by nurses and other medical professionals, as well.

These healing clinics continued for years, with Grandmaster Choa constantly testing and refining methods of cleaning out dirty energy and increasing the supply of healing energy. Finally, in 1987, Grandmaster Choa published his first book and held his first workshop in the Philippines to introduce Pranic Healing, a “best of the best” system of very specific instructions and sequences for cleansing and energizing particular parts of the body to achieve rapid healing. The system spread to the United States in 1990 and is now practiced worldwide.

Crystals and Color in Pranic Healing

Missing from nearly all other energy medicine systems are two cornerstones of Pranic Healing: the methodical use of special crystals and the specific use of color pranas (incorporating the full spectrum of rainbow colors).

Dr. Kaminsky implements Pranic Healing in sessions with patients seen at his office. People suffering with Pain, Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia, and many other difficult, chronic and longstanding conditions.

Meridian Points, Chakras and Aura

Acupuncture is a probably the most well known energy medicine system today. In acupuncture, fine needles are inserted into a patient’s body at certain points, along energy channels known as meridians. These needles unblock the flow of Prana through the meridian point system, and bring balance to the body‘s energy distribution to facilitate healing.

In Pranic Healing, the meridian point system can be treated without needles with a hands-on approach on to the physical body or via a pranic healing crystal off the body, working within the auric field / biofield of the patient.

Chakras are energy centers of the body. There are multiple systems of Chakras. There is a five individual chakra system, seven, eleven, etc. In Pranic Healing we have fourteen Chakras that we identify and work with. Grand Master Choi Kok Sui created this system based on his many decades of study and experience.

We all have an Aura, a biofield that encapsulates and surrounds the physical body. The strength of the auric field is different from person to person and stems from the emotional and traumatic experiences the body is holding on to from birth to present day.

Your mental and physical state are dependent on the meridian, chakra and biofield’s health. The more negative emotion and trauma experienced in one’s life the more compromises in function this energetic system will have. Producing your physical symptoms, pain and poor health.

Reiki vs. Pranic Healing

The choice is clear. For the most beneficial, energetically sound approach Pranic Healing is the premiere system of energy medicine. Pranic Healing can be administered in the office or remotely.

About Dr. Kaminsky & Craniosacral Therapy

Dr. Kaminsky is a 1999 graduate of the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. He is licensed to practice in NY and has completed close to three thousand hours of professional continuing education since becoming licensed in March of 2000.

The primary approach used in his office is Craniosacral Therapy (CST) which is a method focusing on the cranium (head) and sacrum (a large bone at the base of the spine) scientifically proven to control life sustaining fluid flow throughout the body.

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on manual therapy approach that brings about healing via the fluidity of the body. The existence of the Craniosacral System was first discovered by Osteopath Dr. William Sutherland in the early 1900’s, calling it Cranial Osteopathy.  And later rediscovered, validated, and developed by Dr. John Upledger in the late 70’s early 80’s, who renamed it Craniosacral Therapy after doing five years of research at the Michigan State University, School of Medicine. In 1983 Dr. John, as he was fondly called, established a teaching institute in Palm Beach, Florida, to teach this cranial sacral method to all healthcare providers. The Upledger Institute is still very active today.

The craniosacral mechanism pumps fluid which is produced in the brain, called cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF), through the fascial network of the body, the purpose of which is to lubricate joints, muscles, organs, all cells and all tissues. It is the driving life force for your body’s systems to function properly, CSF also carries healing properties to bodily traumas, injuries and past surgeries.

The proper function of your cranial sacral mechanism, via CSF flow, maintains the normal tone of your muscles, provide nutrients to your organs, and keeps you out of pain. It sustains human life and allows your nervous system to stay responsive to challenges of daily living and your mind-body life experiences. The better your craniosacral mechanism functions, the better the flow of this life sustaining fluid, the better your body can handle physical and emotional stress. The uninhibited flow of this fluid throughout your body allows you to thrive, opposite of survival mode.

CSF is part of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) brain and spinal cord), which is physically encapsulated within the dural membranes of the spine and head.

One of the functions inside of your brain is to automatically generate energetic rhythmic impulses that function to pump CSF throughout your body, regulating your peripheral nerves, nervous system and organ systems, which in turn, sustain your function (physiology) and life. It is an important force that maintains everything functioning in your body. This is what we call the Craniosacral System, or Craniosacral Mechanism. It is the hydraulic, energetic and rejuvenating system of your body.

This measurable life force of moving fluid is palpable to a trained craniosacral therapist, like the heart rhythm, pulse rhythm, breathing rate, that can all be felt, so too can the Cranial Sacral Rhythm (CSR) be palpated and measured. It is the foundational diagnostic tool in real-time used to evaluate your current state of well-being (or lack thereof), and potential for health improvement and healing.

Compromises of your rhythmic impulse, correlates to CSF flow restrictions in the system which the body is unable to self-correct or overcome on its own. This is the reason why over time we develop pain, dis-ease, symptoms, conditions, mind-body disconnect and basically all human physical and psychological ailments.

When the fluid isn’t flowing optimally, your bodily rejuvenation is affected, and this is where the skill of an experienced craniosacral therapist becomes valuable. By placing his or her hands on your body, most commonly on your head and sacrum, for diagnostic purposes, the practitioner can detect, feel, evaluate, and rate the SSQAR (strength, symmetry, quality, amplitude, rate) of the rhythm; then bring forth correction of any limitations with subsequent experienced hand placements on different parts the body during a session.

A craniosacral therapist helps your rhythm reset, restore and renew allowing for healing to take place of the mind-body connection, musculoskeletal tightness and spasms, neurological deficits, autoimmune issues, organ function, many common conditions, and of course pain. Through a practitioners properly focused and attuned touch, your body is facilitated to release channels of fluid stagnation and flow restriction, which ultimately breakthrough, overcome and improve CSR and the function of vital fluid flow.

Dr. Alex Kaminsky is an advanced practitioner of Craniosacral therapy, having studied up to advanced levels including SER and pediatric courses. He has built a solid foundation with many years of experience, treating babies, children and adults.
